Power of Attorney

A Power of Attorney is a legal document that enables you to appoint someone who you trust to make financial decisions on your behalf. This is an important estate planning tool because it allows you to prepare for circumstances when you may be unable to make financial decisions for yourself.  At Carpenter Estate & Elder Law,  I recommend that my clients have a Power of Attorney in place so that a designated person can handle financial matters when it becomes necessary.

In the event that you need someone to manage your assets, pay your bills, or make investments for you, in many cases, a Power of Attorney can help prevent or forestall the need for a loved one to pursue guardianship of your financial affairs (your estate) if you become incapacitated.
